Most patients do wear a cast after knee surgery for recovery.
After you have knee surgery you usually do wear or need to wear a knee and leg cast to immobilize the knee and leg while the knee is allowed to heal after surgery.
The knee & leg cast is a hard covering that stabilizes and immobilizes your knee and lower leg while it heals.
After Knee Surgery you usually need to wear the knee and leg cast for 1 to 2 weeks and sometimes longer until the knee heals.
The actual time you need to wear the knee cast after knee surgery can vary and your doctor will let you know when you can for sure have the knee and leg cast removed and go without it.
Your doctor will have you come back for an appointment and if they know you're ready to have the knee and leg cast removed they will remove the leg and knee cast.
Most people only need the knee and leg cast for a few weeks but some may need to wear the knee and leg cast a bit longer.
