Dental Hygiene School is pretty competitive and it's pretty hard to get into dental hygiene school if you don't have a good enough GPA.

The higher your GPA the more chance you have at getting into dental hygiene school.

To get into dental hygiene school you need around a 3.79 GPA or higher and the higher your GPA the better.

To become a dental hygienist you'll need to go to college to learn all the stuff needed to become a dental hygienist where you'll learn about dental hygiene such as mouth cleaning, cleaning of gums, cleaning of teeth, doing temporary fillings, treating tooth infections, treating gum disease.

Other skills you need to be a dental hygienist are great communication skills, removing deposits from teeth, compassion for the patient, attention to detail, problem solving skills and Manual dexterity.

You'll also need to be skilled in applying fluoride treatments as well.

A dental hygienist is sort of like a nurse for the dentist field.

But you can think of a dental hygienist as being more of a helper to the regular dentist but they do have some medical qualifications to help treat tooth infections, gum disease and clean your mouth and teeth to keep them healthy.

Yes being a dental hygienist can be a stressful job to some especially if you don't really love the Job.

Some dental hygienists love their job and say they are not stressed but they probably really are stressed at least some even though you love the job.

I'm sure that all people are stressed out at their jobs no matter how much they love it.

I love kids and used to work at a daycare center and I was still stressed and had to quit even though I loved the job and the kids.

Sometimes dental hygienists will fill cavities but not all will do so and most dental hygienists will have a dentist do the cavities fillings.

But dental hygienists can do a temporary cavity filling and then have you set up another dental appointment and a regular dentist will then permanently fill in your cavity.

Yes a dental hygienist does wear scrubs when they are working on the patient.

The dental hygienist not only wears scrubs but will wash their hands before and after working on your mouth and teeth and will be wearing rubber gloves.

The job of a dental hygienist is to examine the dental patients for signs of any possible oral diseases including things such as gingivitis, and provide preventive care, including oral cleaning and teeth cleaning.

If you need a tooth pulled then a regular dentist who has qualifications in pulling teeth will be the one to do that.

The dental hygienist would not pull your teeth because that is not in their job or qualifications for it.

A dental hygienist will also give you education about keeping your teeth, gums and mouth clean and healthy.

Being a dental hygienist is a good career choice and they will always be in demand and being a dental hygienist you can earn around $72,000.00 per year which is pretty good but it does take some study in college to become a dental hygienist but it's one job that will be always around.
