Your placenta is outside the amniotic sac and then attaches through the amniotic sac to your babies belly button.

The baby is inside the amniotic sac which protects the baby and the umbilical cord attaches through to the baby where the belly button is and then attaches through the amniotic sac and then attaches to the placenta which is outside the amniotic sac.

Your placenta is basically an organ attached to the lining of your womb during pregnancy and the placenta is connected to your baby by the umbilical cord.

When your baby is born then the umbilical cord will be cut off and then eventually the belly button will heal and the rest of the umbilical cord will fall off naturally.
