It is OK to hard boil expired eggs as long as the eggs are actually good and not bad.

Eggs are usually good for up to a week or 2 weeks after expiration date.

You can do the float test for eggs and if the egg floats then the egg is bad and if the egg sinks then the egg is good.

To perform the float test, gently set your egg into a bowl or bucket of water.

If the egg sinks, it is fresh.

If it tilts upwards or even floats, it is old.

This is because as an egg ages, the small air pocket inside it grows larger as water is released and replaced by air.

Hard boiled eggs can be okay to eat after 10 days although sometimes they do go bad after a week.

If you do eat a hard boiled egg after 10 days and it's bad then you can get sick and may get food poisoning.

When you peel the hard boiled egg you should smell it and if it smells okay then it's okay to eat but if it smells like sulfur or hydrogen sulfide or smells bad then it should be thrown out.

You can get sick from eating an old hard boiled egg if the hard boiled egg has gone bad.

If you think the hard boiled egg is bad then throw it out as it's not worth getting sick from.

Hard Boiled eggs are usually good for a week or 2 in the fridge and after that they can go bad and should be thrown out.

Bad hard boiled eggs will smell like sulfur and or hydrogen sulfide.

Hydrogen sulfide is a chemical compound with the formula H ₂S.

It is a colorless chalcogen-hydride gas, and is poisonous, corrosive, and flammable, with trace amounts in ambient atmosphere having a characteristic foul odor of rotten eggs.

You can get salmonella from hard boiled eggs although it's rare.

Usually though hard boiling the eggs will heat the egg up hot enough to kill the salmonella.

You could also get sick and get food poisoning from hard boiled eggs if they were left out too long or if they have gone bad.

Hard boiled eggs are good out of the fridge for up to 2 hours.

You can keep hard boiled eggs out of the fridge for up to 2 hours and after that they can spoil and should be thrown out.

Hard boiled eggs can turn green due to the high amount of iron in the cooking water or because of overcooking the hard boiled eggs which causes the hydrogen in the egg white to combine with sulfur in the egg yolk.

Boiled eggs do sometimes float somewhat to the top when done.

However the boiled egg should not float completely when done boiling as that could mean the egg is bad.

Boiled eggs are done though after 10 to 12 minutes of boiling.

It's not safe to eat overcooked hard boiled eggs because they are considered to be toxic due to the overcooked hard boiled eggs containing ferrous sulfide which is toxic.

When hard boiled eggs are overcooked they then produce and contain the toxic ferrous sulfide so if you overcook hard boiled eggs they should be thrown out.

You can overcook a hard boiled egg and overcooking a hard boiled egg could make them rubbery and may make you sick as well.

Overcooked hard boiled eggs will also have a green ring around the perimeter of the egg yolk.

Cooking hard boiled eggs takes at most 10 to 12 minutes and cooking the boiled eggs longer than that can make them rubbery.

Hard boiled eggs are good for up to a week in the refrigerator and after that they can begin to spoil and should be thrown out.

Hard boiled eggs will last for up to 1 week in the refrigerator.

Always keep hard boiled eggs refrigerated if not eating them within 2 hours.

It's okay to leave hard boiled eggs out for a few hours and even for a day such as for Easter egg hunting but after Easter egg hunting you should let the kids know that they need to eat the hard boiled eggs or refrigerate them until they are gonna eat them.

Or use plastic eggs with prizes in them instead of hard boiled eggs for Easter Egg hunting.

But if you're just hard boiling eggs make sure to refrigerate them within a few hours of hard boiling them or eat them.

Hard boiled eggs do eventually go bad and when the hard boiled egg goes bad it will smell rotten and will almost take your breath away when smelling the bad hard boiled egg.
