For newer vehicles today it's OK to go 4000 miles without an oil change.

Most newer vehicles that are made today can go longer than 4,000 miles between oil changes and some vehicles may be able to go as long as 8,000 to 10,000 miles between oil changes.

Older vehicles that were made before 2005 or so should have an oil change every 3,000 to 4,000 miles.

My newer car I can go 6,000 miles before I change the oil but for my older truck which is a 1992 Chevy Silverado I need to change the oil every 3,000 miles.

The older engines need an oil change sooner but with newer engines they are built to not need an oil change as often.

Just don't go too long without changing your oil and oil filter as it can damage your engine which is more costly than an oil change.

Cars can generally go 5,000 to 7,500 miles before needing an oil change.

Furthermore, if your vehicle uses synthetic oil, you can drive 10,000 or even 15,000 miles between oil changes.
