For adults you can take one 400 mg of Ibuprofen every 4 hours.

Don't exceed 3 of the 400 mg of Ibuprofen in a 12 hour period unless advised by a doctor.

For adults you can take up to one or two 200mg tablets or capsules 3 times a day.

And sometimes your doctor may prescribe a higher dose of up to 600mg to take 4 times a day if needed.

The bad side effects of Ibuprofen include headache, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue and restless sleep, thirst and sweating, tingling or numbness in hands and feet, ringing in the ears, blurred vision and eye irritation and fluid retention and ankle swelling.

Ibuprofen is used to relieve pain from various conditions such as headache, dental pain, menstrual cramps, muscle aches, or arthritis.

Ibuprofen is often known by its given name, but you may also know it as Advil or Motrin.

It is classified as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).

Other members of this drug class include aspirin and naproxen (Aleve).

Tylenol (acetaminophen) is only effective at relieving pain and fever, but Advil (ibuprofen) relieves inflammation in addition to pain and fever.

Other differences: Some research suggests NSAIDs such as Advil are more effective than Tylenol at relieving pain.

For most adults and children ages 12 years and older, the recommended OTC dose of ibuprofen is 200 mg by mouth every 4 to 6 hours. If 200 mg didn't help enough, you have the option to take 400 mg at your next dose.

You shouldn't take more than 1,200 mg of ibuprofen in a 24-hour period.

Ibuprofen and naproxen are both nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

You may know them by their most popular brand names: Advil (ibuprofen) and Aleve (naproxen).

These drugs are alike in many ways, so you may even wonder if it really matters which one you choose.

While very effective at easing pain and inflammation and generally well-tolerated, Advil, and similar medications like Motrin, are associated with a number of possible side effects.

Some of these are very serious, such as an increased risk of heart attack, stroke, and stomach bleeding.
