Really only you yourself can decide if the Privacy protection on the domain whois information is worth the price.
For me it's not and I've had no problem with having my full address and phone number on the whois information for over 5 years.
No one has called me or showed up at my house.
In my opinion I wouldn't worry about protecting the whois information and save a bit of money although it's not much.
