A good normal burn temperature for a wood burning stove is right at around 1,000 F for a good burn.

But it's okay to get down to 500 F. Usually once the stove temperature drops down to 500 F it's usually time to throw some more wood on the wood stove fire.

You need to keep the wood stove fire going as hot as possible to prevent dangerous creosote build up and a chimney fire from happening.

Also periodically inspect and sweep out your wood stove chimney pipe to get rid of any creosote buildup before it can start a fire.
