Is 6 months enough time for firewood to season enough to burn?

I'm new to wood burning and I haven't burn any wood yet this year because I just only got my firewood 6 months ago and my firewood was still green at the start of winter.

I had a wood stove installed though to save money on heating bills even if I can't use it until next winter.

My firewood has been sitting for 6 months now. I'm wondering if at 6 months my firewood is seasoned enough to burn in my wood stove?

How long do you season your firewood before burning it in your wood stove for heat?

If you have the firewood cut split and stacked during those 6 months then firewood that has seasoned for 6 months is likely okay to burn depending on the species of the wood.

If you notice cracks in the split firewood then it's usually dry enough to burn. Seasoning firewood means getting moisture content of the firewood down enough so it won't have problems burning and cause creosote build up.

You could try a few pieces and see how hot or good they burn.

Congrats on getting that wood stove installed as it will save you a lot of money on your heating bills in the long run.
