If you think your dog has heartworms you should get them some heartworm medication and start giving it to them right away.
I would also give them heartworm medication at least once per week to help fend of any heartworms before they're able to harm your dog.
If you have any puppies you should give the puppies heartworm medication at 8 weeks old.
