Is it better to install a smoke detector face down from the ceiling or is it okay to just mount it high on the wall?

I would go with placing the smoke detector on the ceiling in the center of the room facing down since it could detect the smoke sooner that way.

But even high on the wall is okay to mount the smoke detector as either way will work just fine.
