How much does it cost to rewire a house yourself?

My house needs to be rewired since the wiring is aging and I need more amperage and more outlets.

How much would it cost to rewire the house myself without an electrician?

Are you allowed to redo the complete wiring in your own home without an electrician?

For a 250 FT roll of 12-2 copper romex house wiring it costs right now $65.00 at my local hardware store.

The price can change when copper prices go up or down.

You might need 3 or 4 rolls of the 12-2 romex to complete the wiring in the home. So estimate of 4 rolls of romex at $65.00 each is $260.00 for the romex wiring.

Then add in the outlets that you'll need to update and you might be looking at $300.00 for everything.

If you plan to update the service entrance and distribution panel as well then you might be spending $600.00 to complete the rewiring of the house yourself.

It's much cheaper to complete a rewire of a house yourself if you know how as it can cost $3,000.00 or more to have an electrician do the job.
