To increase your credit score you should not close any credit card accounts as it's best to keep the credit card account open and continue to use the credit card and pay it off in a timely manner and always pay more than the minimum payment.
The longer your credit card accounts are open and any other loan accounts are open and in good standing then your credit rating will eventually go up with responsible use of your credit cards and loans.
