What is a reasonable temperature for a house in winter?

At what temperature do you keep your house during the winter?

I'm trying to keep warm but save money on my gas bill which I can't afford.

Some people say 65 F is a comfortable temperature to keep their house at and they might be comfortable at those temps.

But I tried lowering my thermostat to keep my house at 65 F and it was just too chilly.

I added a wood stove and now keep the thermostat at 65 F and the furnace hardly comes on now but my house stays at 75 F to 80 F and I'm more comfortable at those temps.

I can handle down to 55 F at night when I'm under the covers so I turn down my thermostat to 55 F so the house doesn't get colder than that at night if the wood stove goes out.

I then put some more firewood on the coals and it warms back up pretty quick to 75 F.

If you're uncomfortable with wood stoves or can't get wood heat installed then you might look into a pellet stove since it could keep your house warmer and cost less than natural gas sometimes.
