Does having private domain registration affect seo?

If you use private domain registration to hide your whois details does the private domain registration have any effect on search engine rankings?

I used to use whois domain privacy protection for my domains and it never affected my search engine rankings at all.

I decided the extra fee wasn't worth it though and no longer use whois privacy protection.

You can use whois privacy protection if you want to and it won't affect your google search or other rankings.
