Is it cheaper to heat your house with propane or heating oil?

There's 2 houses that I'm looking at and trying to decide on which house to purchase. One house is heated with propane and the other house uses heating oil for heat.

Which heating system is cheaper to heat with?

Is heating oil more costly than propane for heating?

Both propane and heating oil are both expensive to heat a home with. But if had to choose I would go with the propane heated home.

Propane is much cleaner to deal with than heating oil is.

Propane can cost you around $500.00 or more to fill up a tank and you might go through a tank of propane in one month.

It depends on the size of your home. With heating oil you might be spending upwards of $900.00 or more per month for your heating oil.

Over 6 months of $900.00 per month you'd spend $5,400.00 per year for heating oil. Yes that's very costly.

Where's with propane if you spend $500.00 per month you'd spend $3,000.00 per year for heating.

But that is $2,400.00 cheaper for the propane than it is for heating oil.

Your cost on your propane could be cheaper as well though depending on how well insulated your home is and how big or small your home is.

A smaller home will require less propane or heating oil to keep your house warm.
