Do front yard vegetable gardens offend you?

I was reading a story from 2012 where a lady and her husband were facing fines and possible jail time if they didn't pull up their vegetable garden they planted in their front yard because neighbors complained that it was an eyesore.

How can a vegetable garden be an eyesore and does it offend you to see a vegetable garden in someone's front lawn?

Yeah that's just ridiculous that a vegetable garden can offend someone in someones front yard and especially enough to get someone arrested and/or fined.

I can see how a vegetable garden could become an eyesore though if the weeds aren't tended to but I would not have someone fined or arrested over the garden weeds.

If the weeds in the garden were bothering me that much I'd offer to go help tend to the garden and remove the weeds for the neighbor.

I hate that instead of neighbors helping each other fix problems with their yards they just go and complain to the city or other officials and get someone fined or jailed.
