What do the police do if you flat refuse to go with them?

If you kick, scream, grab onto a lamppost, etc. what then? Can they legally take you? How can they MAKE you go? What about my constitutional rights?

They put you in handcuffs, throw you in the back of the car, add "resisting arrest" to the charges, tell the jail so they too go harder on you, then they talk about you after work. There may be tazers or pepper spray employed if in their subjective discretion you warrant it. 

You're prohibited from resisting, delaying, or otherwise hindering law enforcement in performance of their duties. If you do any of that, it's usually about a Class A misdemeanor good for a another year in prison and up to $2500 fine, some variance between states.
