Why do I wake up in the middle of the night with a dry mouth?

I woke up in the middle of the night about 2:00 AM with a dry throat and mouth and was coughing really bad?

I then got back to sleep and woke again and now it's almost 5:00 AM coughing and had a dry throat and mouth again even after I drank some water.

What is causing me to wake up coughing and having a dry throat and mouth?

The cause of dry mouth at night is lack of Saliva. You may not be producing enough saliva at night or your saliva is dripping out of your mouth if you sleep with your mouth open.

It's nothing to be alarmed about and I get the same problem some nights. Try to keep your bedroom humid with a humidifier as I found that keeping my bedroom with humidity in it helps my dry mouth and I sleep better.

Also keep a glass of water or a pitcher of water on your night stand so you can get a drink of water without having to get up and leave your room.

Also some medications can cause you to have dry mouth frequently as well.
