Space heaters are a real energy hog. On the highest setting an electric space heater will consume 1500 watts and if your cost per kwh is 10 cents then you will pay around 15 cents per hour to run an electric space heater.
They are certainly not the cheapest way to heat a house. But electric space heaters are good for adding some heat to a room that is cooler than the others.
