Do you have to wipe a baby when they pee?

If a baby has only peed in his/her diaper do you have to wipe their bottom after they pee?

I've heard pediatricians recommend to not wipe every time you change a wet diaper because the baby wipes can be harsh to the babies skin and the diapers today are so absorbent that most wetness doesn't even touch the baby or toddlers skin.

But I would recommend at least taking a wet with water and baby shampoo wash cloth and wiping the baby or toddlers diaper area anyway.

It's best to get rid of any urine that may be on your babies or toddlers skin as the urine left on your toddlers skin can lead to a painful rash and sometimes even urinary tract infections.

It doesn't take that much more time to wipe the baby or toddlers diaper area than it does just changing a diaper.
