Electricity is a very efficient way to heat your home because all the energy that comes into your home and passed through your electric heater is turned into heat.

But electricity isn't really the best way to heat a home and in most places electric is more expensive than heating your home with natural gas furnace.

The best ways to heat your home are by natural gas, heating oil, and wood. A wood stove can save you a lot of money on heating costs and will keep you toasty warm even during a power outage.

I wouldn't want to rely on heating my home with just electric heat no matter how cheap it got.

If the electric went out due to an ice storm or something you'd be freezing.

With a natural gas non electric heater such as a floor furnace you'd still have heating even during a power outage.

Same goes for the wood stove. If you have a good supply of wood you'll still be warm in the event of a power outage.

Plus if you get the wood for free you won't have a huge heating bill to pay.
