I hate flies too. The reason they land on you is they're wanting the salt and other juices from your skin.
They only live at most a few weeks before dying. But if I find them in my house and can get to them, then they die as soon as they get near me.
You can also use fly tapes in your house to get rid of them and they help with gnats too.
I hate the look of fly tape in my house. But I hate house flies and gnats more.
