I prefer cooking on a gas range since I can adjust the flame better and have a more even cooking temperature.

With an electric range you can turn down the heating but until the heating element cools down you're still cooking at the same temperature and it's hard to keep water from boiling over.

Another plus with a gas cook range is that if the power is out you can still cook on it by using a match to light the gas range.
