Yes dui checkpoints are required to be announced before hand to make them legal.

If they are not announced beforehand then it's considered a violation of your rights to detain you while they do their DUI checks.

But I wouldn't worry about it. As long as you're not driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol then you have nothing to worry about if you go through a DUI check point.

You shouldn't be drinking and driving or doing drugs and driving anyway.

This doesn’t really happen because culprits will know about it. My uncle has a Breathalyzer and every time he drinks, he checks the BAC before he drives. It is because he was once charged with DUI and a good DUI lawyer helped him out.

DUI checkpoints are really supposed to be announced ahead of time however I've been through a few of them that were not announced before they took place.

However I had nothing to worry about because I don't drink and drive which no one should because it's very serious to do so and could get you, your family or someone else killed.

In most cases the person in the other vehicle who is not drunk gets killed while the drunk driver usually gets very little injury or no injury at all and lives.
