Should I Renew my Domain name Every year or Renew for 10 years?

I've heard that if you register your domain for the maximum of 10 years you will get a boost in SEO search engine optimization website traffic?

Does google search engine take into effect how long you have your domain name registered for?

I only register my domain name for 1 year at a time right now but If I were to register it for the maximum of 10 years will my domain and website rank much higher in the search engines?

If you plan on keeping the domain and website online for a long time and can afford the money to register your domain for the full 10 years then it won't hurt anything.

It doesn't hold much weight in ranking your website though. What does matter in ranking a website is quality original content and domain age.

The older your domain is the more google search will trust your website and list you high in search results.

What I mean by older domain is if you had a website actually running on that domain for those many years.

Just having an old domain won't make your website rank higher. You need to have older content indexed in google as well.

Google search takes into account when they first indexed your website in deciding where to rank your website.

Ranking won't happen overnight. Ranking in google search is a long term process and can take years even for content to rank on the first page of google.

Once your website and domain age though then you might see a new blog post rank on first page of google search within a day or 2.
