Do depression meds actually work?

I'm depressed and have been depressed for around 2 years now and I'm wondering I should try getting some depression medication?

Do depression meds actually work to help get rid of depression?

Depression medicine can work but one of the side effects ironically is that the depression medicine can make you more depressed.

Depression medicines that you get prescribed to you by your doctor can cause you to become more depressed and sometimes can lead to suicidal thoughts.

That's a few of the side effects that depression medicines can have on some people.

Not everyone who takes depression medicines experiences those side effects though.

But me personally I quit taking my depression medicines because it was making me more depressed but my brother takes depression medicines and it has made him less depressed.

So it can vary from person to person.

If you're depressed you should speak with your doctor about it and they can get you on depression medicines but if they make it worse then you might want to stop the depression medicines.
