Does having depression count as a disability?

I've been depressed for 2 years now and can't get a job because of my depression.

Does having severe depression count as a disability?

Would I be able to get SSI disability income payments if I'm diagnosed by a doctor for depression?

If your depression is severe enough and you were diagnosed with it by a doctor you might be able to get SSI but you'd have to have a lawyer to be able to get the SSI payments.

The lawyer and yourself would have to take the case to court and prove your depression as a disability in court before you might get SSI payments for your severe depression.

There's no guarantee you'll get SSI though.
