Yes you can still earn a living with Adsense but it will take hard work in the beginning and you won't make much at all in the first few years of your website being online.
I'm not earning a living just yet with my blog but I believe I will get there someday. It has taken my blog 5 years to start getting $300.00 per month consistently.
In the beginning I wasn't getting much website traffic and was earning maybe $1.00 to $6.00 a month and a few months not earning any money at all.
But I stuck with it and had patience and after 5 years I started getting paid every month.
You won't be able to quit your day job for adsense if you're just starting out. It will take time to earn money with your website.
