How can I get help paying off my electric bill?

I have a $100.00 past due on my electric bill and I've been only able to pay $20.00 per month but I got a shut off notice for my electric bill and they said I need  to get the $100.00 past due paid in a few weeks or I'd have my electric shut off.

You might check with your electric company and see if they have a program to assist you with your electric bill.

My electric company has a program where customers and even employees donate money to help cover peoples electric bills when they need it.

Although you have to go through the Salvation Army to get the actual assistance but your electric company should be able to tell you if they have that program.

You have to show proof of income. I had to do the same before. They helped me cover $200.00 worth of winter electric bills.

Also most electric companies will work with you to setup payment arrangements to get your bill paid and keep you on.

It cost's the electric company money to shut your electric off and they want to avoid it.

Never ignore the bills and always call them up to let them know what's going on and that you're trying to pay the bill.
