Are bark collars safe for dogs?

I want to purchase a bark collar for my dog who won't stop barking but not sure if I should?

 Do bark collars give a shock to the dog?

I don't want to harm my dog I just want to get him to shut up when company is over?

Bark collars are humane. They work by sending out a vibration and not an electric shock.

Usually once you use the bark collar for awhile the dog will shut up when you just show them the bark collar.
