what does it mean when prison sentences run concurrently?

When sentences are given to a prisoner and the judge says the sentences will run concurrently what does that mean?

When a prison sentence is to run concurrently it means that the prison sentence's will be served at the same time.

When a prison sentence is run consecutively it means that the other prison sentences and time will begin after the previous time is served in prison. Then the new sentences and time start to begin.
