My 3 year old sons diaper has started leaking around the standing leg gathers?

The diaper isn't even full yet when it starts to leak. After I put a diaper on him and he begins to wet for the first time in the new diaper he starts leaking urine out around the legs?

How can I stop his disposable diapers from leaking around the legs?

Have you been running your finger around the standing leg gathers to pull them outwards? That's a common thing missed.

The standing leg gathers of the diaper need to be pulled out to work properly.

He also may be just wetting the diaper too fast and too much at one time and it doesn't get absorbed fast enough and then leaks out the legs. Maybe try putting your 3 year old in a bigger diaper that might be more absorbent.

Toddlers at age 3 tend to hold their pee in for a while and then let it all out into the diaper at once.
