I'm looking for a home to buy and I see some older construction homes from 1896 that have been remodeled that are $100,000.00 cheaper than the brand new home construction.

I'd like to save $100,000.00 but was wondering would I have any problems from a 1896 home sooner than I would a new $200,000.00 home?

Since it's been remodeled I'd get the 1896 home. Older homes of that era were built solid and it shows since it's lasted 121 years and I'm sure it'll stand for another 121 years.

Real estate taxes are also cheaper on an older home than it is on a newer construction home.

I'd rather have the extra $100,000.00 sitting in my bank then putting it towards a fancy house.
