I'm new to burning firewood in my house. Decided to burn firewood part time to cut down on the gas bills that I can't afford.

I get free wood. Last month I had some firewood brought to my house from a tree that was cut down at a friends house.

It was wet when brought of course. But now it's starting to dry out.

Will this firewood be ready by winter?

How long should I wait before burning firewood?

Firewood takes at the minimum 6 months to cure enough to be burnable. A year is much better and even 2 years if you can wait that long.

At 2 years wood will cure enough to burn better.

So if you got the wood last month then it should be burnable by November or December.
