A bad throttle position sensor that is bad or is going bad will give you symptoms such as bucking or jerking, engine stalling, hard starting, surges in the engine when idling, engine hesitation upon acceleration, surges in speed while driving down the highway.

Other symptoms of a bad throttle position sensor include, check engine light flashing and or a lean or rich fuel mixture that can cause an increase in fuel consumption.
