Hard disk drives can and do make a little bit of noise while in operation which is normal and is because the hard disk drive is being read and written too.

My hard drive makes a popcorn popping like sound when it's in operation and it's very normal and nothing bad is going on with the hard drive.

The noise has gotten less noticeable after a few months of using the new hard drive.

If the hard drive starts making loud clicking noises, scraping noises or grinding noises then that's not normal and your hard drive is likely failing so you should backup important data now before the drive fails.

You can use google drive to backup 15 GB of data for free or pay a little fee each month to backup more data on Google Drive and it's well worth it.
