Most times a ingrown toenail will go away on it's own without any treatment but it will take awhile for the ingrown toenail to go away and will be painful.

You can however soak your feet in warm salt water to help alleviate the pain from the ingrown toenail until the ingrown toenail goes away.

Soak your feet in the warm salt water for 15 to 20 minutes up to 4 times per day and then after soaking your feet place some waxed dental floss or cotton under the ingrown edge of the toenail and then apply some antibiotic cream and take pain relievers to help with the ingrown toenail pain.

Also most health insurance plans will cover the cost of a doctors visit to remove the ingrown toenail so check with your health insurance to see if they'll cover the cost to get the ingrown toenail removed.

Without health insurance the cost to remove an ingrown toenail ranges from $200.00 to $1,000.00
