Can I use water instead of windshield washer fluid?

I ran out of washer fluid for my vehicle and I'm wondering if I could put just water and soap in the washer fluid reservoir instead until I can get some more washer fluid?

You could put water and soap into the washer fluid reservoir and it won't harm anything.

Although be aware in the winter months when it's cold the soap and water will freeze and crack or break your washer fluid reservoir tank so if you do put soap and water in the washer fluid tank be sure to put washer fluid with antifreeze in the tank prior to winter.

Other than that there should be no problem with water and soap being used to clean your windshield with the washer fluid reservoir.
