A newborn baby will be able to sleep in the bassinet until they're 3 to 4 months of age.
A newborn will usually sleep much better in a bassinet since it's a smaller space and will be more comfortable like the womb was.
However once they get to 4 months of age the baby should be moved from the bassinet to the crib since the baby will start getting to big to comfortably fit in and sleep in the bassinet and then they will sleep much better in the crib after 4 months of age.
