Babies do tend to sleep better when they're moved to their own room once they turn a year old or older.

However a baby should always sleep in their parents room until at least their first 6 months of life so the parents can be near the baby and the baby being near the parents during the first 6 months of life has been shown to reduce the risk of SIDS.

I would never want my baby too far away from me until they're at least 1 year old.

You can move a baby to their own bedroom when they turn 6 months old but I would want my baby near me until they're old enough to get out of bed and walk on their own in case something happens such as a house fire or something where I could grab the baby and get them out of the house.
