On hard surfaces the flu virus lives much longer and can live up to 24 hours on the hard surfaces but on bedding and clothing or other porous surfaces the flu virus has a much shorter life.
On porous surfaces the flu virus can only live up to 12 hours.
It's always a good idea to wash any bedding that you've laid on or come into contact with when you have or had the flu so the flu virus can be killed.
