The flu virus can remain in your system and you can still be contagious for up to 72 hours after you recover from the flu.
It's usually okay to send your child back to school or for you to go back to work within 24 to 48 hours after the flu goes away.
Although some children or older adults with compromised immune systems can be contagious for up to 2 weeks with the flu.
