You only have to appear in court for the speeding ticket if you decide to fight the ticket in court.

If you just pay the speeding ticket then you will not need to appear before a judge in court.

When you get a ticket from a police officer and you sign that ticket you're just agreeing to pay the ticket or appear in court should you decide to fight the ticket.

So if you don't want to fight the ticket you won't need to go to court over it.
