Your insurance rates will only go up for the fender bender if you report the fender bender to the auto insurance company and put in a claim for the repairs.
For minor fender benders it's best to just pay out of pocket to fix either your car or someone else's car if it was damaged.
Any damages $500.00 or less I would personally pay out of pocket and not notify the insurance company about the accident because you'll pay more on your insurance rate increase than you would to just pay to fix the damages out of your own pocket if you can afford it.
