If the amount of the check is under $3,000.00 then you can take the person to small claims court and sue the person over the bad check and you'll most likely win the case.

If the check is $3,000.00 or more then you can take it to a higher court and it can even become a felony for the person who wrote you the bad check and it can even land that person in jail or prison over the check.

That is if the judge can prove that the person who wrote the check did so intentionally knowing they didn't have the funds to cover the check.

Sometimes it's possible for someone to write a bad check and not know they actually wrote the bad check so reach out to the person who wrote the bad check first to see if they can write you another check or work it out with you before going to court.

If the person did write the check on purpose knowingly then yes you can take them to court and sue them over the check.
