A police officer cannot take your cell phone from you and search through the cell phone unless they have a warrant to seize the cell phone and look through the cell phone.
If a police officer takes your phone without a warrant and searches through it then the judge should dismiss any case against you about what is found on the phone.
It's a violation of your rights to search anything you have including your house without a legal warrant from a judge.
