During the day Raccoon's do hide out and sleep in hollowed out trees as well as in brush piles, hollowed out logs and even below rocks.
Raccoon's are nocturnal creatures so will be sleeping during the day in the trees or anywhere else they're located at during the day.
Although sometimes you'll see a Raccoon out foraging for food during the day which is very normal for it be doing so.
