Mattress manufactures recommend mattress replacement at least every 10 years which is a pretty good time frame and age for a mattress to be replaced but it depends on if the mattress is worn out or has any tear in it when I decide whether I'm gonna replace the mattress with a new one.

Most times you can keep a mattress longer than 10 years if you use a mattress topper or mattress protector on your mattress.

I have a mattress that is 18 years old and still very comfortable but I've used a mattress topper on it and mattress protector to keep it clean and protect it.

If I hadn't been using a mattress topper and mattress protector to protect the mattress then it probably would need replaced at the 10 year mark.

If you wake up in the morning with aches and pains it could be that your mattress isn’t providing the level of support and comfort. So maybe it is old and you need to replace it. In general mattress can last 5 years, 10 years or even longer. It depends on its type and quality. If you want to choose new mattress, but you don't know what to choose I recommend to pay attention to Tuft and Needle mattress brand. I have such one at home and it is very comfortable. I found it here - sleepissimple - quite interesting blog.

This is depended on the quality and material of the mattress if it's a spring mattress I may use it for max 10 years and if memory foam mattress or other materials it's advised by Sleepy Foams not to use them more than 5 years. These days several new materials have been introduced in the market which that brands claimed they last for a lifetime.
