Are hard disk drive platters toxic?

Do hard disk drive platters contain anything that is toxic?

Hard drives do not contain toxic materials. The hard drive is made from aluminum that's used as the core and some other metal which I don't remember exactly what it is. But it could be titanium.

There's no danger in destroying hard drives or having them around the house.

The magnetic material is applied to the hard drive through a process known as sputtering.
